Contrary to what you’ve heard in the press, church is not stopping, but it is changing!
Events surrounding Coronavirus and its impact on our country have moved quite swiftly this week, and we’re having to look at some new ways of doing things. As of 17 March 2020:
- All services are suspended for now on the instructions of the Archbishop of Canterbury. We’ll be looking at some of our other activities over the coming days. Keep an eye on the calendar page for the latest information.
- The Church buildings are however open for prayer.
- Please carry on being church by being a light to the Upton community and surrounding villages. We can do this by serving one another, caring for the needy, and keeping prayerful. If you feel able to, please get in touch with the Upton Town Council and Upton Baptist Church organised Stay Connected service which is connecting up vulnerable people in our community with those who can help. Tel 01684 594991 to either offer or request help. If you live in the Hanleys, Sue Adeney (sadeneysue@gmail.com) is organising something similar, so if you are self-isolating in the Hanleys, please Click here to download a form which can be returned to Sue. Alternatively, if you know of someone self-isolating, please print it and give it to them.
- It’s likely we’ll be arranging some video-streamed services in the coming weeks – keep an eye out for emails
- We’ll be using the mail list on this website to communicate more and more, so if you aren’t subscribed to it, pay it a visit and add your name to the list! It’s on the home page, bottom right-hand corner.
In the meantime, keep calm, keep caring and keep praying, and our God who is bigger than any disease will see us through this challenging time.
Rev’d Barry Unwin
